The research work carried out at the Department of Information Systems of the Poznan University of Economics focuses on the following domains:
  • Semantic Web Services - SWS:
    • semantic description, filtering, clustering and profiling;
    • business aspects of SWS, including description and assessment of end-to-end quality of service (QoS), ontology for SWS QoS; non-functional parameters-based description of SWS; semantics for business process management (BPM); role of SWS in business processes automation; SWS marketplaces; Service Level Agreements (SLA) creation, validation and negotiation;
  • ontology-based knowledge representation (ontologies building, merging and learning from text; temporal, geographical and organisation-oriented ontologies);
  • user and document context modelling (temporal, geographical, mobile, people and organizations context description; NLP techniques for Named Entities Recognition (NER), tagging (including temporal and geographical markers) and information extraction; spatial and temporal indexing of documents; context applications in information filtering (IF), information retrieval (IR) and content adaptation);
  • data, information and content integration for Web and Deep Web sources (robust and adaptive addressing of Web objects; integration of heterogeneous schemas in Web databases; intuitive, visual extraction and integration of content blocks from distributed, non-cooperative sources).
